Subscription Based Family Tree Websites

Subscription Based Family Tree Websites

Ancestry is very flexible and is easy to use for any skill level.  Build a family tree and grow it.  Take the Ancestry DNA test and connect the results to your tree to take your research to the next level.  Ancestry is a subscription service with options based on your needs.

MyHeritage has the capability to create trees combined with a lot of records to search.  You can also take a MyHeritage DNA test and use the results to find matches.  I have found many international matches using this site.  I also appreciate the ability to drill down into the DNA in more detail.

23andMe allows the user to create a family tree. It is good for basic trees, but if you plan on building out a larger tree, you may outgrow the site. There is also some ability to review tree hints if you are searching for documents. I use 23andMe more for the DNA matches I can find and add to my tree.

FamilyTreeDNA has announced that they have entered a partnership with MyHeritage and encourage users to create a tree on MyHeritage. FamilyTreeDNA still fills a critical role in my research because I use them for Y-DNA testing and matching to other users on their platform.
